October 22, 2004: the Big Horse,
Chicago, IL
Oh, man. Even considering we all left in the same vehicle,
this show was still pretty bad. I highly doubt that anyone
reading this actually has any idea what the Big Horse was all
about. Well, let me give you some kind of clue. It was
pretty much a burrito joint that doubled as a 'bar' and 'music
venue'. Pay extra close attention to the quotes before and after
'bar' and 'music venue'. What I mean is...it wasn't really all
that much of either. But a burrito joint, it was for sure!
I can't exactly remember if the burritos were any good...but I seem to
recall Paul really enjoying himself.
This show had it's redeeming qualities. We played with Lee
Enfield and Iniuria (the first time I saw the Line-6-loop-one-man-band
thing). And Jen--now with fake ID--and, former Berry menber,
Psalm showed up. ...and that was pretty much it.
I think this was the night we slept on couches in a dormatory in
Wheaton. After hanging out and smoking in a Denny's or something.
It was already more than clear to me at this point in my life, because
of my experiences in a Ska band, that Chicago hates me. Any time
I go there, I usually have a bad experience. I came to call this:
The Chicago Curse.
Possible set: Tick Tock, Death, Crow/Love/Sunday
Breakfast, Middle Man, Broken Machine, I Miss You, The Way (I'm
Supposed to Be)
