October 19, 2004: Studio Cafe, St. Louis, MO

It is not altogether uncommon for people who attend Greenville College to do all they can to get out of that small town and into the big city.  Of course, the biggest city within close proximity to Greenville is St. Louis.  At this point, there was another Greenville band that had a significant number of members living in 'the big city'.  This band was Gravity Well.  Both Berry and Gravity Well had, at various times, been the hottest shit in Greenville.  It was only natural that these two bands would play shows together in St. Louis.  This was the first show (unfortunately, of only two) the two bands played together.

I think it is pretty safe to say that this wasn't the most remarkable show either band had ever played.  However, at the time, it was probably the smallest stage either band had ever played on. The venue was just a small coffee shop in and the 'stage' was basically a window display.  But we made it work.

Kav, a former Berry member, was in the audience and that made me kind of nervous since he was significantly more talented than I and I had taken over most of his parts.

Joey's wife was hittin' the sauce pretty hard (it was one of those coffee shop/bar deals)...and probably embarassing herself slightly.

At some point, Paul notified us that we might also play the rocket bar that night.  So, Paul, Sam, and Matt all went down there to see what the deal was.  The rocket bar was probably the hippest joint in town at the time.  I mean, they had Sonic Youth and just about any other 'hip' band in their jukebox.

When we walked in, a really lame band was playing.  I am not going to mention their name here...but if you ask me, I might just tell you.  I just remember thinking, 'these guys are fucking stupid!'

Needless to say, we didn't play the rocket bar that night.  But we did end up getting a show there before it closed down.

Ummmm.....that is that.

Possible set:  Summer, Tick Tock, Death, Crow/Love/Sunday Breakfast, Middle Man, Broken Machine, I Miss You, probably not The Way (I'm Supposed to Be)
