September 25, 2004:  Radio Cherokee, St. Louis, MO

"Are you guys talking about Built to Spill!?"

Up until this moment, sitting outsite Mocabee's nearly finished with his coffee and what could be considered too many cigarettes, Sam abruptly chimed in to the conversation Paul had been holding, solely, while the other Berries merely listened, with the members of the Autumn Waking.  We were all back in St. Louis now and we were wanting to hang out with the AW until we had to be at the venue.  Unfortunately, the rest of the band isn't, on most occasions, very sociable.

Seemingly shocked that someone besides Paul was actually saying anything, everybody looked over at Sam who, jazzed up on coffee, finally decided to spout something or other.  (builttospillbuilttospillbuilttospillbuilttospillbuilttospill)...albeit briefly before the conversation resumed its previous course.

It's hard to say how many times Paul's phone rang during this gathering, but it had to be enough for one of the AW's to make a comment, later in the evening, about Paul living on his phone.  Paul was the first person in the band to have a cell phone.  You see, back in 2004 it wasn't unheard of for a person not to have a cell phone, believe it or not...

Tangent!!!!!

Now, you're gonna have to use your imagination a bit here so get ready.

Are you ready?

...

I am serious here...

Ok?

Now I want to you to picture a person.

It could be you or your sister, your mother, your best friend, pet fish, Paul Bunyon, Siegfried, whoever, doesn't matter.

And I want you to picture this person,
with a little house,
or a tent may be even better...with a campfire!

A little house and all that entails.

On a cell phone.

You imagine this person coming home from work in their teeny tiny car to their itsy bitsy house on a cell phone!

That's hilarious!

"Hey Sam, why don't you tell both stories at the same time!!!"
"OK!!!!  I love Zooooolooooft!!!!!!!!!!"

The show was pretty cool.  I am not sure if you have (had) ever been to or played Radio Cherokee, but the stage was tiny.  But it was a great venue!  I miss it.

Set possibly included: Summer, Crow/Love/Sunday Breakfast, Dream On(?), I Miss You, fiftyeight, The Way (I'm Supposed to Be)
