A Mysterious Date:
Otto's, A Mysterious
Location, MO
As far as I know, there is
absolutely no mention of this show anywhere.
In a sense, I guess that means it never really happened. It was just a sort
of dream that was shared
by us, Caleb Engstrom, and
a couple of other friends
and fans tuned into our unconscious frequency.
We all dreamed that we drove
farther than we had anticipated.
In our cars:
"Is that the place?"
"No, I don't see a sign. Keep driving."
"That had to be it! There is nothing down
this way..."
"OK, let's check it out."
We all walked in and wondered how well this
could go over.
"This doesn't look like the type of place for
us..."
Mullets. Motorcycles. Ozzy Osbourne.
"Does that guy's shirt really
say 'Vaginaterian'?"
"Dude! That's the sound guy!"
"Oh My Lord!"
"These people are gonna hate us!"
"What the fuck are these pussy hipsters doin' in our bar!"
Just keep drinking and try
not to think about it. We will all form our own little Greenville
huddle.
Slowly, however, our
what-the-fuck nightmare began evolving into a really good show. The power
of imagination. ...and alcohol.
By the end of the night, we had completely convinced the mulleted, motorcyclist that we were Rock!
I vividly remember that at
the end of 'The Way (I'm Supposed to be)' (aka the 10 minute song) Joey
just started messing around.
We all followed. We just made noise for a
few minutes. That was the first time that
had ever happened. But definitely not the
last!
Dreams come true kids.
